PS/IS 113 Q, QUEENS, NY a. Project Description: PS/IS 113 will be expanded to add Pre-Kindergarten and grades levels 6, 7 & 8 and to improve the overcrowded conditions of the existing school. The new addition with a gross area of 61,000 square feet, will include a basement and two floors above grade. The addition will include a new accessible main entrance with elevators to all floors of the new and existing building. Alterations to the existing school will include new library in the lower level, new medical suite (nurse), new guidance suite and improvements to the auditorium, as well as new signal system. The planned site improvement include a new early childhood playground, repaving the main play area, and new fencing and landscaping. b. The School is located in an entirely residential neighborhood. The design will utilize materials and forms to complement the existing building and blend with the neighborhood context.
